Site Access

Why isn't my course showing up in OWL?

There may be several of reasons why a course site is not appearing in OWL:

  1. The course site may be in the Sites drawer.
  2. You are not officially registered in the course. Verify your course enrollment at http://student.uwo.ca.
  3. You have registered for the course less than two business days ago. The Western University registration system takes some time to fully process a course registration.
  4. The instructor has yet to create and/or publish the course site.
  5. The course doesn't use OWL or doesn't have any OWL components.

I recently registered for a course, when can I access to the OWL site?

Course sites may take up to 24-hours to appear in OWL from the time the enrollment process has been completed through the Office of the Registrar.

I changed sections in my course, why doesn't OWL reflect it?

OWL reflects course information from the Office of the Registrar's records. If you change sections you must be sure to do it through the registration system at http://student.uwo.ca. Changes may take up to 24-hours to appear in OWL.

Resources

Can I download multiple files at once from Resources?

Yes. Using a WebDAV you are able to connect to the RESOURCES tool from your computer. Navigate to RESOURCES, click Transfer Files and follow the instructions on the page to connect to the tool, then copy the files & folders to your computer.

Grades

Where can I view my grades?

Most grades can be accessed through the GRADEBOOK. Grades for online assessments can also be accessed through ASSIGNMENTS and/or TESTS & QUIZZES.

Note: Grades will only be available if the instructor has released them to students.

How do I view my final course grade?

Once instructors submit final course grades, students can access final course grades at http://student.uwo.ca.

Assessments

How do I submit an assignment?

It is recommended you regularly click Save Draft when submitting an inline assignment to minimize losing work. For more information about submitting assignments, please see Submit Assignments.

How do I know my assignment was submitted successfully?

Upon successfully submitting an online assignment, you will be brought to a submission confirmation page which includes a unique Submission ID. It is recommended you keep a record of the Submission ID to verify your assignment submission.

How do I take an online quiz?

It is recommended to only take online quizzes on a stable network. It is recommended you regularly save during an online quiz to minimize losing work.

How do I know my quiz was submitted successfully?

Upon successfully submitting an online quiz, you will be brought to a submission page which includes a unique Confirmation Number. It is recommended you keep a record of the Confirmation Number to verify your quiz submission.
